How does one configure HIS using 802.2 DLC in a production scenario?
Specificallly, the link service is tied to a remote physical address. How
can you implement a backup plan to attach to the remote backup computer? Is
there any way to preconfigure the current and backup into the HIS so that in
case of fallover to the remote backup machine then there would not be too
much manual stuff to change with the HIS configuration

Joe,

A few options/thoughts....

1. Share a TIC address across your sysplex. That way HIS only needs to know
about one address anyway.

2. If your mainframe/host fails over, can you assume that HIS is not going to
be there as well? In which case you need a.n.other HIS server at your
mainframe backup site as well.

3. In any event, all you need to do is configure the link-service connected
to your "backup" mainframe as an on-demand link service. That way it will only
activate if the resources that a user wants can't be satisfied by a live/active
link service.

What sort of resources do you want to fail-over, and how is your backup/D-R
host/networks configured?
