Hi. I have a strange error - I'm hoping someone might recognize it.

I have a server running Commerce 2002 on top of Win2K server, and an asp.net
web application using commerce server. The web application has suddenly
stopped working. It gets stuck in loading, and after a while times out. We
strongly suspect that it's dying on Commerce server. The commerce server
manager applet works fine, and there's nothing in the system event log that
indicates anything weird is happening. The web app just refuses to load.
There's nothing in the code of the web app that would cause it to hang like
this. We've thrown some breakpoints in, and we know that our code for the web
app is never reached.

Has anyone had a similar experience to this? And if so, how can I fix it?
Thanks, and sorry if the problem is vaguely described. It's pretty
infuriating because we dont get any error message or anything else useable
back from teh server.

Anything in the Event log?
Are you able to launch other non Commerce server IIS applications? You can
create a simple one and try it out.
Have you tried repairing the installation of Commerce Server by running
Setup again?

Hope that helps,

madhur

Thanks for the reply. We managed to fix the problem by creating a PUP
installer of our website site on another production server, then reinstalling
that PUP on the faulty production server. And yes, other non-CS IIS apps
worked fine. There was nothing in the error log. It just seemed that CS did
not want to run that particular application, and it wasn't going to say
why.We still dont know why the application died as it did, because we didn't
alter anything in the MSCS_Admin database or any of the local configuration
files which could affect how CS ran the app.

Thanks

Glad to see that your problem got resolved (although I never got to figure
out what it was).
It could be that something may have gone wrong during your initial
unpacking of the site on the "faulty server".
The pup.log file in the root drive may have more information.

Thanks,

madhur
