I am the sys admin for a small not-for-profit organization and our server has
a lost a hard drive. The strange part is the bios for the controller and
device manager see the disk but my computer and disk management does not.
Its a old 9.1GB seagate cheetah connected to an Adaptec 2400S RAID
conntroller. No its not part of the RAID arrays, its just a single drive I
use to store patch files and such. I took a quick look at the event log but
didnt see anything. Anyone have any ideas?

The drive is dead. Replace it.
The electronics on it is probably good (reason why you see it when the scsi
comes up and lists drives) but the drive probably no longer spins up to
speed or the the arm no longer moves.
