W2K3 SP1 ? or atl east an update for NTFRS.EXE |
|
|
I am experienceing a problem when Excel97 users save documents on my W2003
file server. This is documented exactly in KB811370 for W2K server but I have
seen references for it also on 2003.
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=811370 and
http://www.adminlife.com/247reference/msgs/17/89406.aspx
KB823230 says that the latest version of ntfrs.exe fixes these problems but
I haven't been able to find out where I can download the new version from. It
is said to be part of SP1 for W2003 but when is that to be released?
Can anyone please tell me when I can get the hotfix for ntfrs.exe?
Thanks,
Adrian |

The only way to get this fix is to open a support case with MS and obtain
it.
It is Free.
email me if you have any trouble getting it from MS.

Thanks Glenn,
I have never opened a support case with MS. On the support site there is a
list of different packages for support but they all have fees. How can I get
the hotfix (823230) free of charge?
Many Thanks, Adrian

You call them and ask them to open a case to get a hotfix.
They know that hotfixes are free.
If they ask you for your credit card, you explain all you want is the
hotfix, and it is your understanding they are free.
If you get pushback, ask to speak to their manager.
