New win2003 DFS tree hanging explorer |
|
|
I just deployed my new DFS root to my domain clients, through a logon script
which maps a network drive to the domain root, and it's having problems...
this is replacing a older win2k server with a domain based DFS root, and
this new domain root is on a new faster server I also made some changes to
how it was structured but basically it's just another DFS root. What's
happening is the clients explorer is hanging when they try to access the
shared drive, I have also tested putting \\domain.local\share in directly
and it hangs as well... after about 1 to 2 min of total freeze on the
computer it will come up... is there a way to see what's going on? I only
have one root server link and, some of the sub links have 2 replicas but
everything is on line and working. And after the initial "hang" the users
can browse around... but if they close explorer and open it again and go the
DFS root it hangs again.
Is there anything I should be looking for? The replicas and root seam fine,
I have sonar running and there are no errors. |

humm it seamed the problem was that one of the links in the root DFS tree
was linking to another DFS tree on another server that had crashed, as long
as that server was down the root DFS tree was hanging for a long time, is
there a way to set some kind of timeout or something so if one of the traget
links goes down the whole DFS root dosn't become unuseable?
