Replication question |
|
|
I want to set up file replication between 2 servers. The first server being
my main file server and the second is nothing more than a backup of the
first. I would like it to be in real time if possible. Is there a product
out there that anyone could recommend other than DFS to do this?
Thanks

Its actually FRS that replicates the files.
You may consider Legato's Replstor, or Xosoft's Wansync.
I have no opinion of these offerings, they are just the first to come to
mind.

Jeff, I have been considering the same thing let us know what you find out.
Looking into DFS and FRS myself.
What I want is my p:\ to be on the main fileserver but there might a
replicated (real time) to another server for backup.
was looking into *NIX rsync and having that run every hour. This would
compare the master to the secondary and if anything changed on the master it
would get replicated to the secondary.

Excuse yet another commercial...
StorageX (www.nuview.com) can do this *and* help you manage your DFS
environment. Oh, and the replication now has "byte-level replication". It
can be setup to only copy changed bytes.
