newbie questions |
|

Hi,
Are DFS and FRS two separate service? Can I just run FRS by itself?
I would like to use FRS for data file synchronization between servers (not
sysvol). Is it doable?
Thanks

DFS and FRS are two separate services, but the only way you can configure
FRS is by using the DFS snap-in, and the DFS snap-in only allows you to
enable FRS on targets in a domain-based namespace. You'd have to set up a
domain-based namespace to use FRS; unfortunately there is no other easy way
to do this.

Thanks for the information Jill.
So can I use FRS to synchronize files among servers? My impression is that
it only does for the sysvol volume.
Thanks
Keith

FRS is used for replicating SYSVOL and replicating DFS targets.
