adding another username |
|
|
Hello all,
I have a strange request that has been asked of me..Is it possible to have 2
usernames that users could use in order to log into a Windows 2000 domain?
If so, how can it be done and what will it affect?
Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Greg |

Yes and no. Realistically no.
It's possible for the NT 5.x username and the Pre-Windows 2000 compatible
(sAMAccountName) to be different, but only due to length restrictions.
You can authenticate in a variety of ways, traditionally DOMAIN\UserName, or
using UPN username@domain.com
It is not possible to have userA also use a user name userB unless there are
two different accounts.

You can have two seperate user accounts, they have to be different names and
have different DNs, but it should be ok. They would be completely seperate
user accounts though with totally seperate group memberships and
permissions/SIDs.
