My main file server is in a cluster, I normally hide user directory shares
and this is generally straight forward. My problem is in a cluster I have to
create each share individually for them to show up in the cluster. What are
most people doing and or what is best practices for sharing out users
folders in a clustered environment?

Create them under a root folder, like USERS.
