I believe the version of LCS2005 I am using is an eval version (it's not
supposed to be), and the version number is: 2.0.5369.0. I think I saw an
earlier post that discussed this, but I can't find it any longer.

Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not, and what the correct version
number is for the full release version?

Thanks.

Greg

The version number of the eval as well as the final release of the server is
5369.0. They are exactly the same code expect the eval version expires after
the eval internal.

What is the exact issue you are having?
Thanks,
Dhigha

The issue I am having is that the following KB article on Microsoft's
website says that that version is going to expire on 2/13.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;891061 It says the
following:
SYMPTOMS
After you install the Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 trial
software, it may expire before the end of the 120-day trial period.

You experience these symptoms if you installed the Live Communications
Server 2005 trial software that is available as a free download from
Microsoft or if you installed Live Communications Server 2005 from the Live
Communications Server 2005 Trial CD Kit.
CAUSE
This issue occurs if you obtained the trial software before December 1,
2004. The Live Communications Server 2005 trial software that was available
before December 1, 2004, expires on February 13, 2005. This expiration date
applies to the downloaded version of Live Communications Server 2005 and to
the Live Communications Server 2005 Trial CD Kit.

To determine the version of the trial software that you have installed on
your computer, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove
Programs.
2. Under Currently installed programs, click Live Communications
Server 2005, and then click Click here for support information.

If the trial software is version 5369.0, you must install the updated
version

Greg,
Looks like there is some confusion.
5369.was is initially the version for both the final version as well for the
trial version and it looks like the trial version was updated to take care
of the expiration issue mentioned in the KB.

So having 5369.0 doesnt mean you have the trial version.
The issue in the KB applies only to ((trial version of the software)AND (it
is build 5369.0))

I can follow up on this more and confirm.

Thanks,
dhigha

Yeah, there is alot of confusion with that KB since after you instal, you
have no way of knowing which version you have, and based off of that KB, if
you have 5369, you have the wrong version.

I have since installed the trial version and it's 5369.12 or something like
that (which makes even less sense that it is a higher version that the
release version.)

We have our MS rep trying to clear up this KB as well.

Greg,
Let me try to clarify this.

1) Intially both the final vesion and trial version shipped were 5369.0
2) Then the expiration issue was found in the trial version and it was
fixed.
Not all binaries got updated. Only certain binaries got updated so dont
look at the file version directly
After you upgrade to the latest eval version
Add/Remove Programs - displays "5369.15"
or
Help | About in the MMC - displays "5316.15 (Eval)" { This is a good
way to know if you have an eval version to start with }
3) The final version is still 5369.0

hope this helps...
thanks,
Dhigha

I believe the version of LCS2005 I am using is an eval version
(it's
not
supposed to be), and the version number is: 2.0.5369.0. I think
I
saw
an
earlier post that discussed this, but I can't find it any longer.

Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not, and what the
correct
version
number is for the full release version?

Thanks.

Greg
