Exchange Virtual Server or Cluster's ip address cant communi |
|
|
Hi,
I created an exchange virtual server on a 2 node MS Windows 2k3 Ent /w
Exchange 2k3 system. I followed the instructions from the MS Exchange 2k3
Guide closely. After creating the virtual server I am not able to
ping/communicate with the cluster or the virtual server from any
workstation/server on the LAN. The nodes can ping the cluster and the
exchange virtual server. But the pc's and servers on the LAN cannot. Prior
to creating the I checked DNS, that looks fine. What am i doing wrong???
TIA

Can the nodes ping something on the Public Lan? Can they ping something on
the Internet (if allowed)? Do you have a firewall or IPSec between the
Public Lan and the Cluster?
Cheers,
Rod

I figured it out! I had screwed up the IP address for the Virtual server.
I had to delete the virtual server and re-created it. I also had to go into
DNS server and manually remove DNS entries.
The documentation in MS Exchange 2k3 Guide is great, for the most part.
There are some errors or typo's for example when you get to the part where
the guide instructs you to create the Virtual Server's Network Name resource
the guide says to use the CLUSTERS IP address. When it should be the
Virtual Servers IP address resource.

Thanks for responding
