Hi,

In my organization we currently have one Windows Server 2000, which acts as a domain controller for our domain. We've now purchased a new server with Windows Server 2003 R2 and want to move the domain to the new server.
My strategy was to first add the new server as an additional Domain controller to the existing domain, let the data replicate transfer all the control functions from the old server to the new one and take the old one offline.

I prepared the domain by running adprep /forestprep and adprep /domainprep /gpprep. Although both commands completed successfully the new server refuses to add itself as a DC to the existing forest with the error message "The version of the Active Directory schema of the source forest is not compatible with the version of Active Directory on this computer."

Does anybody have an idea what I should do now?
