OWA Mail not delivered / SMTP 5.5.0 error / Mail Delay |
|
|
We are able to send email using the pop services from the ISP; Our internal mail also works; Some outgoing email arrives;
However, those emails to larger domains (such as bluewin.ch; yahoo.com; berkeley.edu) are either delayed or bounce with SMTP 5.5.0 error. From the message it appears to be a DNS reverse lookup issue, where our server is not recongnized and mail is dumped.
What is the best practice, correct way to fix this ?
We have an Exchange 2003 SBS installation with 2 NIC behind a DSL w/ Firewall and holes for the static IP of the server. Our ISP hosts the website. There are A records entered for the server, companyweb and the server name. A record in the DNS is also in for PTR to the static IP. I can do OWA and Remote Desktop.
Additional settings:
Registered Domain: company.com
PTR record: serverIP@company.com
A record: corp.company.com
CNAME record: server to corp.company.com
CNMAE record: companyweb to corp.company.com
From My Computer, Properties on the server:
Full computer name: server.company.local
Domain: company.local
Also: We set the FQDN to server.company.com (it used to be only company.com; Which one is correct?) at Server Management/Advanced Management/Server(Exchange)/Services/Protocols/SMTP/Properties/Delivery/Advanced Delivery
There is no Masquerade entered and no Smart Host (Should we? What setting?) |
