W32Time Errors? |
|
|
Hi,
I follow this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816042
And i have windows 2003 & XP works good even there is little delay in
some of them (about 2 sec.). Now i have two Win. 2003 servers that have
the following error:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: W32Time
Event Category: None
Event ID: 29
The time provider NtpClient is configured to acquire time from one or
more time sources, however none of the sources are currently
accessible. No attempt to contact a source will be made for 60
minutes. NtpClient has no source of accurate time.
And also the following errors in the DC even i setup the registry
according to the article above and it works good for some servers so
why i go these :
Event Type: Error
Event Source: W32Time
Event Category: None
Event ID: 17
Time Provider NtpClient: An error occurred during DNS lookup of the
manually configured peer 'NTP_server_IP_Address,0x8'. NtpClient will
try the DNS lookup again in 30 minutes. The error was: No such service
is known. The service cannot be found in the specified name space.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: W32Time

The only server that you should be configuring is the server that holds the
PDCe FSMO role, all other machines (You XP and 2003) will know how to go get
there time. If you configure them to all be authoritative none would be in
full sync with the others but probably won't be a problem since you are
probably referring them all to the same external source.

I don't have much for this but if you entered a fqdn for the time, try
entering the ip address instead.
