Hi.

I have an Active Directory 2000 server that controls 1 domain, let's say
domain A.
I have also Active Directory 2003 server that controls a tree (let's say 1
root = root1 + 2 children = child1 & child2).

I would like to merge the domain A into the AD2003 tree, as another child of
root1.

1) I'm looking for the basic steps to manage this merging - how to ?
2) I would like to evaluate the time needed to do such a migration - how
long ?
3) what are the risks ? what do i have to be careful with ?

You create the parent - child relationship during dcpromo.

You would have to run dcpromo on the Win 2k DC to remove AD, of course you
will loose all domain/user information in the process, then run dcpromo a
second time and choose "child domain in an existing forest" when presented
with the choices.

You could also set up the new domain as a child domain in the Win 2k3 forest
and use ADMT to migrate the users from the Win 2k domain to the Win 2k3
forest.
