Experts,

I have a public DNS zone call it domain.com. Inside of that zone I have an
A record which looks like this:

mail Host (A) My.Public.IP.Address

I then created an MX record but not sure I did it right. Inside of the
same zone , it looks like this:

(same as parent folder) Mail Exchanger (MX) [10] mail.domain.com

Is this correct or is there another approach?

That looks ok.

Are you having issues with it?

Andrew.

No particular problem, I guess the problem is my lack of understanding of
the nuances involved. Let me see if I can break down my understanding of
this into it's atomic parts.

1) "(same as parent folder)" is basically a synonym for domain.com.
2) "mail.domain.com" is the MX record for domain.com according to the below
line.

(same as parent folder) Mail Exchanger (MX) [10] mail.domain.com

3) I always thought an MX record was essentially a CNAME in disguise, it is
simply a name mapped to another name. Sort of like a special CNAME,
correct?
