I work with a small law firm with 6 Windows XP PCs and a single file server
running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. Here's the problem - although
the firm doesn't plan on growing in terms of more people, it is beginning to
need a shared group calendar, and to also share a large contact list.

We work with a firm about the same size that recently installed a similar
network also running a single server. However, they are running Windows
Small Business Server 2003 that includes Exchange Server, and they have
exactly the capabilities we need.

We know we could purchase Exchange Server 2003, although we've been
cautioned about running it on our single server. Also, it's much more
expensive and has features and expansion capabilities we would never use.

So my question is, can we purchase SBS 2003 and install it in place of our
existing Server 2003 Standard Edition?

Thanks.

Leon

Yes, it is possible.

If you have an existing server in your network, you can upgrade it to
Windows Small Business Server 2003. There are two options for completing an
upgrade:

1) Upgrade the existing server to Windows Small Business Server 2003
2) Install Windows Small Business Server 2003 on a new server and then
migrate the existing server's data and settings
