hi

i am just beginning my active directory adventure :-)

i have a strange dns problem

occasionally the following occurs

a computer will have its name changed from

xxxx.vrms.com

to

xxxx.10.16.0.5

10.16.0.5 is the pdc...

has anyone got any ideas on what causes this and how to stop it?

thanks in advance

Where are you seeing this change?

In DNS Management? Looking at the machine's name?

Weird.

Well, first things first. Those DNS server entries are wrong. They are
public DNS servers - you need to use your own private ones (usually your
DC).

Is DHCP or GPO applying that DNS Suffix?

Hi

My DC is 10.16.0.5 and the other IP is another DNS server... The IP's
that have the problem are static so i would assume its the GPO and not
hte DHCP...
