IP address change on Heart Beat Network |
|
|
Hello,
We need to change IP addresses for HeartBeat Network on MS Cluster.
We are planning to connect two nodes via crossover cable (instead of switch)
and
Change IP of heart beatnetwork cards to 10.1.1.10 and 10.1.1.11
Cluster nodes are Windows 2003 EE and shareable storage is SAN.
We are running virtual SQL 2000 on this cluster
Is there a way to do it safely without corrupting databasesand reinstalling
everything?
Thanks

It's not crossover cable right now and we need existing IP for something else.
What do you mean by freezing cluster groups?
Thanks

the hell do you care about the IP if it's an x-over cable?

Is the public connection running in mixed mode (meaning it will carry the
heartbeat in case of heart beat failure)?
If so, then just make the changes. Of course, do it during a slow time and
use proper change control along with testing first. <G>

Thank You for the response. If public connection is not in mixed mode, what
kind of problem i should expect? Is it still possible to do?
