The stuff in the Help and Support in W2003 is actually pretty good. I don't
know of anything better.
If you have a specific question, post it here and you'll likely get more
than enough information back to get you going.

I have links to all the white papers I could find on my website.

RE: Network Load Balancing Documentation |

Thanks for the info, definitely helped. I have some questions.
1. NLB does not provide fault tolerance correct? If one of the hosts goes
down (in 2 host cluster) then the cluster is not accessible? I have clients
hitting the cluster IP address to get to our web product, works fine when
both cluster hosts are running, if one goes down the site goes down.
2. My one host is always in the converging state, while the other is
converged. Not sure why, shouldnt they both be converged?
3. Is there a good way to see that the TCP/IP traffic is being balanced
between the two hosts. Right now Im just using task manager and watching the
CPU, it still seems the host w/ priority1 is taking most of the requests.
Again I appreciate any replies. Thank you. |

If you need service availability monitoring, you're going to need to abandon
NLB in favor of somethign like a Cisco CSM or CSS Switch which can send HTTP
Pings.

the
cluster and then its fine. What counters are you using in performance
monitor to see the load balancing in effect? I tried a few under "web
service" but it didnt return anything. Thanks again. |

NLB can provide HA. In the case of a two node NLB cluster, if one node
fails, then the other can and will take over the load. The issue with NLB is
that the node must fail, not just the service being clustered (i.e. IIS can
fail, but if the server is still up then the node will continue to receive
traffic)

Yes, they should.

Performance monitor.
