Is it possible when a host my DFS root in my domain controller windows 2003
to create multiple links under my DFS Root and have the maping to point
directly to the share bypassing the root name? for example my dfs root is
domain.int\public and my link is server_name\finance van i have my scripts
point to this:
domain.int\finance directly?

Thank you

No, this is not possible. The root itself plays an important role in DFS--it
cannot be bypassed.

If you're interested in how DFS works, see the DFS Technical Reference at

No. It does not matter where you configure the root folder. You don't
replicate the root. That configuration information is pulled from AD (and
the registry). Enabling replication on the root isn't recommended - it can
cause a number of problems, especially if the replicas have already been
configured, as they already have the same folder - which means it'll get
morphed.
