Hi everyone,

First time poster here. I have a problem in which one day all new
users setup for SIP are not updated to the database. The system worked
for about 2-3 weeks, and then it just stopped.

The really weird thing is that within the Live Communications
Server->users, the new sip users are listed. But if I have a look at
the database, they're not updated.

Users already present in the database can login and use LCS normally.

I'm also receiving this kind of error every 2 hours or so:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Live Communications Active Directory Connector
Event Category: (1009)
Event ID: 29
Date: 1/4/2005
Time: 3:01:24 PM
User: N/A
Computer: LIVECOMM
Description:
Encountered an unknown failure while attempting to process a user
entry. The entry came from naming context
DC= mydc,DC=CA
This error has caused the replication cycle to fail. It will be
retried. Diagnostic information:

User DN attribute value:
CN=username ,OU=OU DC=mydc,DC=CA

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Dhigha,

I had noticed this KB article previously. Here's the thing though:

1- The user mentionned in the error log is not one I've setup for SIP.
2- Does LCS absolutely require those permissions, for every single OU
in my Domain. I changed these permissions on another OU, and although
the error at that point disappeared, a new error from a new user object
on a different ou appeared(once again without the said permissions).

I'm also dumbfounded as to why this worked for a couple of weeks, I
managed to add 69 Users and then it just stopped. None of which are in
the OU in that error.

Any ideas,

Jason

Hi everyone,

small little update. I figured instead of wasting your time, I'd
actually make sure that the permissions explained on the article are
actually applied on all objects I was getting errors in. I therefore
made sure that was the case.

I did have an issue where the object would still get an error even
after it's permissions were updated. I found the solution to be copying
the user object to another OU, and then re-copying it back. The errors
magically disappear.

Watch-out for inheritance on this one. Everything seems to work for
now.
I'll keep everyone posted if there are changes.

Thanks all,

Jason

I had a similar problem and resolved it by rerunning the domain prep. This
reset all the permissions that are required. Mine had worked for a few
months and then lost the permissions.

Hi,

I tried that. Turns out my problem was with permissions for the all of
RTCgroups, but also the RTCService user account(which runs Livecomm on
my server).

I had 2 OUs for which RTCService had restrictive reading rights. All I
needed to do is give it read rights, and it could not update the users
appropriately on the livecomm database.
Hope this clarifies things :)
