validate restoring a failed node in a cluster |
|
|
Hello,
I have a working Windows 2003 Cluster that's running Exchange 2003, it's not
yet in production, however, it is part of the production exchange
organization. It only has test mailboxes on it tho. Before I place it into
full production, i would like to validate a backup and restore. We're using
Veritas Netbackup 5.1.
I want to simualte a failed node, restore it and add it back into the
cluster. If anyone has any ideas on how this works, please reply. From my
research and talking to people, I have come up with this plan of action:
-Complete system state backup of node 1
-Wipe out node 1
-Install Windows 2003 from scratch
-Install all hotfixes
-Install Netbackup Agent
-Restore from tape
-Join Domain
Does that seem correct? Thanks for any info anyone can provide. |

I would speculate if you're restoring a System State backup that you
wouldn't need to join the domain as a separate step afterwards.

Thanks Ryan,
Does the other steps seem correct? Have you done a restore of a single node
in the cluster before? Thanks.
