I need to know how to use exchange, yet send email thru a smtp service that
requires authenication. We receive mail alright but just don't send it.

Assuming you already set up SBS/Exchange...

Exchange System Manager->Connectors-> right-click SMTP Connector->
Properties-> Advanced tab-> Outbound Security-> Enter the stuff for your
ISP.
