We are using Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition. I have the
following ports being forwarded to our SBS server and still users in remote
locations cannot access these resources on the server. What could possibly
be wrong?

25 for your own email
80 Web Server
110
443 for ssl
444
1723 if you need vpn
3389 if you're doing remote
4125 for rww

All kinds of things. Your users' requests must leave their machines,

pass through two sets of Internet interfaces and arrive at the SBS. The
server must decide whether to grant the request, then the replies must
go back the other way. If there is no response to a request, the problem
could be occurring at any of these stages, though some are more likely
than others.

You need to try to establish what parts of the chain are working for
each user, and which may not be. If a user has a laptop and can visit
the server site, can the resources be accessed locally? There may be a
permission issue with SBS itself. Does any SBS log show a denial of a
request?

Can a user access some resources but not others? Can some users access a
resource but not others? Each piece of information is a clue to the
problem.

Are there any log records? Presumably whatever is forwarding messages to
the SBS has firewalling and logging facilities. Does it have any record
of incoming connections? If so, is it forwarding them correctly? Are you
using ISA on the SBS, and is it configured correctly? Are any of the
users running a third-party egress firewall, and if so is it set to
allow the outgoing requests? What does this firewall's logs show?
