SBS2000 to SBS2003 standard |
|
|
hi
Looking to migrate an existing SBS2000 installation to new hardware and
SBS2003 Standard, my questions are:
Q1 Will the current 25 SBS2000 CALS be valid on the SBS2003 server or will i
need to purchase new SBS2003 CALS?
Q2 The SBS2000 install includes ISA2000, the SBS2003 Standard does not, can
i install the SBS2000 ISA onto the SBS2003 server with the SBS2000 ISA
licence or will i have to use the SBS2003 Premium?
Thanks for any feedback on this

A1. You'll need to purchase SBS 2003 Upgrade CALs
A2. You Will need to purchase SBS 2003 Premium if you want ISA.

Q1: You'll have to buy all new CALS. The ones you have are only for SBS
2000
Q2: You cannot use your version of ISA200 that came with SBS 2000, as the
licensing involves ONLY allows it to be installed on the same physical
server as SBS 2000.
Sorry...

But, if you purchase the 2k > 2k3 upgrade, you get ISA 2k, and AFAIK will be
eligible for the ISA 2k4 upgrade with SBS SP1. (but as Matt says, you still
need the CALs).

And, with Standard and Version Upgrade selling for the same price, even if
you don't use the added features VUP is the way to go. And, you can get VUP
CALs for a fraction of the price of new. See
