LU0 encryption |
|
|
Mainframe VTAM caters for the encryption of LU0 data. The SNA BIND determines
whether encryption will be implemneted on the session.
Does host intergartion server supports encryption of LU0 trafiic using SNA? |

Re: LU0 encryption |

Dear Mikrei,
SNA supports four varants of LU0 which are linked to specific hardware
devices as follows:
IBM 3600 and 4700 (Finance)
IBM 3650 (Supermarket)
IBM 3767 & 3725 (Supports Connection to OSI)
IBM 3790 (Distributed Office Computer)
I'm not sure whether the HIS code, viewed by an IBM host, can emulate
the SNA LU0 functionality of any of these devices.
Hopefully someone else can answer that part of your question.
Best Regards,
/Paul

Mikrei,
I don't believe it does. But if you need encryption you could always achieve
this by using the IPDLC link service and using IPSEC to encrypt this. That way
all traffic from the HIS servers to the mainframe would be encrypted.
