Hi,
I saw in an archived presentation that WSS supports
approximately 10 virtual servers/physical machine.
I wanted to test it out, since we currently have a ASP
model this would be an impact on our architecture.

I was able to create >15 virtual servers and extend with
WSS.

Does anybody know about what limitations or issues WSS
has with respect to many virtual servers/ physical
machine?

I don't believe there's any physical limit, or if there is, it's fairly large.

However, WSS has two specific features -- site collections and scalable
hosting mode (sometimes called host header mode) that segment site
administration without the overhead of running lots virtual servers.

In essence, running a hundred site collections on one virtual server is a
lot more efficient than running one site collection each on a hundred virtual
servers.

Thanks Jim,
I did look at those options. We are planning on hosting
Business Scorecards Accelerator/company and it uses
web.config at virtual server level for db connection.

So I had to create multiple virtual servers for
isolation.

But then I came across this limitation mentioned also in
Sharepoint Resource Kit. Hence the question.
