Newbie installing NLB on Win2003 - is this the correct proce |
|
|
I am following the instructions in the link below.
I would like to confirm:
a) Imagine I have two identical servers, Two NIC's per server.
Nic1Server1Public I will input my public IP address, let's 163.7.9.x. Then
on that Network Adapter properties I select "Network Load Balancing". I
click advance and input "ClusterIPAddress = 163.7.9.5".
b) I go to Nic1Server2Public I will input my public IP address, let's
163.7.91. Then on that Network Adapter properties I select "Network Load
Balancing". I click advance and input "ClusterIPAddress", it should be one
that I used on the other server = 163.7.9.5".
Then I put a crossover cable between the two servers and configure
PrivateNIC's respectively as something like 192.168.0.1 and on the other
server PrivateNIC = 192.168.0.2.
Is that all ?

...and then ping to your virtual IP/Cluster IP (163.7.9.5) from the client
system. If you get the reply, u r through. You can write a sample application
say Event Logger and deploy on both the servers for testing.
Remember, you can also define port rules to make your cluster listen to
perticular port.

hi!
if not, perhaps you have forgotten to define the cluster ip address on each
node as a secondary ip address on the network adapter....
