Sound Trouble on Server 2003 |

I recently installed server2003, wiping out my xp home OS.....now, Server
doesnt pick up my Altec Lansing speakers as XP did...the driver is working
and correct,etc....i almost felt like the chord might not be working, but i
tried it on my cliet PC and it works fine....any helpful hints on configuring
sound with 2003?? Much help appreciated!! :) |

I am not quiet sure for what reason you need sound on your server ...
anyhow ..
What's in the System panel? Does it correctly list your soundcard w/o
Errors?
Do you have the correct drivers, for W2003 Server?

I agree with Franz. Why would you want/need sound on a server? Don't use a
server as a workstation...
And the issue isn't with your speakers, it's with your computer's sound
card, most likely a driver issue. Neither your hardware or your operating
system knows or cares about speakers themselves. |

He's probably talking about USB speakers (which don't use a sound card
and thus need a driver).

Are we all forgetting that on Server 2003 sound is disabled in services. Open
services, find 'Windows Audio', change it to automatic and start it.

I can't say I forgot that which I never knew. As implied by my earlier
replies, I've never even tried to use sound on any server!
