Which server do I need? |

I need to put in a server for Exchange server for email and outside
access to email for employees, and Terminal Server to for outside
offices to access an application on a new Linux computer. Will SBS 2003
run terminal server? Is it the best choice for the roles I am
contemplating.

Of course recognize that the responses you should expect to receive here are
going to be in favor of using SBS2003
SBS 2003 will provide you with Exchange, Outlook Web Access (access to Email
from any web browser world wide) and you can run the Linux server inside the
domain.
As for Terminal Services, SBS 2003 will not run in TS Application Mode
You will need another Server for TS

SBS 2003 cannot act as a terminal server for you. You need to add a seperate
server for this. SBS 2003 includes Exchange 2003 which is ther perfect
solution for you.

How many clients? Do you already have Exchange? How many terminal services
clients would you need? Would Remote Web Workplace work instead of TS?
SBS has a limit of 75 users/devices. If you don't have Exchange, why not?
It comes with two TS accounts.
RWW will let you connect over to the Linux box, if that is the end intent.

No. SBS Must be a PDC, for want of a better term, and you DON'T want to
run TS for external access on a PDC.
( ...That's one of the reasons MS removed it in SBS 2003 )

mind you, the exact same logic dictates that any (read nonSBS) WIndows box
which is a DC should not be a TS.
Though the disability to enable TS is a pure SBS thing the idea that it is
foolish to enable TS on a DC is universal.
