RE: Fax Not Receiving |

FIXED! Delete reference!
We have a manual fax machine for sending forms etc that aren't in digital
format. A parallel line is plugged into it when needed and then unplugged
immediately afterwards. Someone forgot to unplug it, so the fax and the modem
have been arguing over which should handle the incoming fax. Neither won!

Our faxes have been receiving OK for months. Now they do not come in and we
get error messages.
One complained of bad line quality (which we doubt) and gave the senders fax
number, so we could at least contact them. The other errors say the Fax
service failed to receive a fax. They say From:+61398427931 CallerId: To:
Impexis
Curious thing is that the given number is OUR fax number (ie the number of
the line connected to our modem). It seems to think we are sending a fax to
ourselves!
We don't pay for the caller ID service on this line. Does this mean someone
else has put my fax number into their fax machine header? Or is there some
other logical explanation? I have turned off and on the modem, and this error
was happening before and after SBS reboot. We have not successfully received
ANY faxes through SBS since the problem began. Outgoing faxes no problem.
