I have a server running HIS 2000, that I need to migrate to a new server. I
can see how to copy over the config file and I understand how to setup the
new server. What I cannot find information on is how to migrate my comti
transaction. I'd like to do a full restore using backup exec IDR, but am
using completely different hardward, so cannot seem to get support for that
option. My next option is to setup the new server then recreate the HIS
environment, with the least amount of pain as possible. Has anyone ever
migrated an HIS server that also uses comti extensively?

Gwen,

You should simply be able to isntall the package on the new server. As
long as you have the Remote Environments set up correctly on the new
server, it should be a painless migration.

Also, the remote environment information is stored in the registry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Cedar\RE. There is a different key for
each RE. Although we do not technically "support" this, you can simply
export the RE keys from the existing machine and import them onto the new
machine so that you get all of your same REs defined.

You will have to re-install the COMTI components themselves and point them
to the correct REs, but all you need for that are your COMTI type library
files (.TLB).
