I have HIS 2004 Beta installed on my machine and a Windows
2003 Server. I am
trying to uninstall these from the machines and I get the
following error
message on the Windows 2000 Machine with just the client
tools.

The "Windows 9x Client for SNA Server" cannot be upgraded
to "Microsoft Host
Integration Server 2004 Beta Client".

I am not trying to upgrade, I am trying to uninstall the
Beta from my
machine to install the release. Does anyone have any idea
how to get around
this?

Thanks,

Jerel

Hello Jerel,

Just to clarify a few things,

1) what beta/build of HIS 2004 is installed?
2) did you just install the HIS 2004 Client?
3) did you install HIS 2004 on Windows 2000 or Windows 2003?
4) any previous SNA4/HIS 2000 software installed?
5) how are you uninstalling? You may try the following from the command
prompt:

Setup.exe /l C:\UninstallLog.txt /REMOVE ALL /Product HIS

John,

Thanks for your reply,

1. 2004 Beta 2
2. Yes, just the Client tools
3. A Windows 2000 machine and Windows Server 2003
4. No
5. I have tried to uninstall from Add/Remove and also by
launching setup.exe from the CD and choosing the remove
option.

When I try the command line option, a box pops up with a
progress bar saying it is uninstalling, then the box
closes and nothing is uninstalled.

I am not sure what is useful from the log file but here is
one line that might help:

[6:46:37 PM Info] MSI installation returned 1605 - This
action is only valid for products that are currently
installed.

Hello Jerel,

Please attach the setup log (and config log if present) so that we may
review.

To clarify further what you have installed, did you do a typical install of
the HIS 2004 client? If not, what did you install?
