Please confirm that you are using the back product SharePoint Team Services.
I suspect that you are either using SharePoint Portal Server 2003
(microsoft.public.sharepoint.portalserver)
or
Windows SharePoint Services (microsoft.public.sharepoint.windowsservices)
If so please post to the appropriate newsgroup of those two.
In STS I suspect that this is not possible.
(I'm also surprised about the term "default Vacation calendar" - whereas
both STS and WSS have default calendars they are not specifically Vacation
calendars)
