SharePoint Services |
|
|
BlankI just found out about SharePoint Services which seems like a good alternative to hosting your own intranet or Exchange Server (we don't have an IT dept). I also found another vendor that offers a similar service for the same price.
I want to see the pros and cons of each before we decide on a service and was hoping that you provide some feedback. We have MS Great Plains, SQL Server, and Office that we are very satisfied with.
How do you like SharePoint? Did you research any other services before deciding on Microsoft? Why did you choose SharePoint? Any comments on difficulty to use or items that the service is lacking? The other vendor that I found doesn't integrate the calendar, task list and project databases (major con), but it does allow databases to imported and items sync'd with a pda or Outlook (major pro).
Thank you for your comments.

Four in fact if you add in the two (2001 and 2003) SharePoint Portal Server
nnnn products.
To make it even more confusing the Windows SharePoint Services product was
called SharePoint Team Services v2.0 in its early (pre-Beta) life and
several of the files are still called sts (such as the install routine
STSV2.EXE)
