What is the easiest way to synchronize data between a DB2 table and MS SQL
server using Host Integration Server 2004?

You can do some replication between SQL and DB2, but only initiated from the
SQL Server side. You could also use DTS to push/pull data.

Are you trying to pull data from DB2 or push data to DB2?

As far as HIS is concerned then, your main choice would be to use DTS (Data
Transformation Services) in SQL Server along with our Ole DB Provider for
DB2 to pull down a snapshot of data from DB2. In DTS you could set this up
to pull data from DB2 on regular intervals. You can also setup specific data
conversion rules if you need them.

With HIS we do not currently have an easy way to do "transactional"
replication from DB2 to SQL Server (although you can do this fairly easily
in the other direction). There are a few more involved ways to accomplish
this if you need it. You could use the new HIP feature (Host Initiated
Processing) of HIS Transaction Integrator to call into an HIS server from
your host. So, you could setup a trigger or some other application on the
host which is alerted of changes to the data which then calls into the HIP
component sitting on your HIS server. The HIP component could update the SQL
Server with the new data.
