My sharepoint application has two types of users. Internal
(ones that work in my company) and

external (one that dont).

When an external users open a document their NT user
credentials are requested by the document.

This is clearly a very bad thing as the user has already
logged on once.

Does anyone know how to transfer the NT user credentials
into the documnet or how to stop this from

happening in general.

I'm having the same problem.
Users are being prompted to loging when accessing public facing documnets.
Word, PDF, and TXT documents don't prompt the user to login - but Excel and
PowerPoint files do prompt for login (which it should not).

I noticed in the IIS logs I get a bunch of
"Microsoft+Office+Protocol+Discovery 401 5 0". This article
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=838028) mentions that users may be
wrongly prompted to log in - but it's not clear what the fix is. My document
library has browse permissions but it still prompts the users.

Anyone Know the fix?
