Apply shipping discounts programmatically ? |
|
|
Hello:
Without having setup campaigns, discounts, etc., is there a way to set up
discounts before .RunPipeline ?
Any pointers, sample code, etc. would be most helpful.

Re: Apply shipping discounts programmatically ? |

Surely, the campaign/discount manager on the host where my client's commerce
site is installed is broken and the hoster does not want to fix it for the
fear of breaking other sites ....
And I inherited a half baked implementation of Retail2002 (the PUP installs
it as Retail2K2 rather it's own site name).
So, rather than trying to correct/fight the above, what I would like to do
is the following:
Whenever a customer buys Items L, R & Q (which already have shipping charges
included in the purchase price), I would like to exclude the price of these
product(s) from total while calculating the shipping charges. Note: The
shipping charges are calculated on the total (shipping charge x for total
amt between a & b).
Hope that clarifies the situation.

Your best bet is to implement a custom Shipping component. I don't think
there is a sample, but you can see what dictionary keys are read and
written by the existing Shipping component and model after that.
Thanks

We are working on this exact feature for the next version of Commerce
Server. In the meantime there is a work around which may be too slow for
your purpose. You'll have to run a ScoreDiscount pipeline component for
each product.
Thanks

Ok Andre.
And about the traget group and the logged user?
For example, I have the target group name and I need to check if the logged
user is part of the group that I want to match.
Is there classes, references and components to campaigns opened to instances?
Tks again.

Your best bet is to implement a custom Shipping component. I don't think
there is a sample, but you can see what dictionary keys are read and
written by the existing Shipping component and model after that.
Thanks
Andre

Surely, the campaign/discount manager on the host where my client's
commerce
site is installed is broken and the hoster does not want to fix it for the
fear of breaking other sites ....
And I inherited a half baked implementation of Retail2002 (the PUP
installs
it as Retail2K2 rather it's own site name).
So, rather than trying to correct/fight the above, what I would like to do
is the following:
Whenever a customer buys Items L, R & Q (which already have shipping
charges
included in the purchase price), I would like to exclude the price of
these
product(s) from total while calculating the shipping charges. Note: The
shipping charges are calculated on the total (shipping charge x for total
amt between a & b).
Hope that clarifies the situation.

Hello:
Without having setup campaigns, discounts, etc., is there a way to set up
discounts before .RunPipeline ?
Any pointers, sample code, etc. would be most helpful.

Ok Andre.
And about the traget group and the logged user?
For example, I have the target group name and I need to check if the logged
user is part of the group that I want to match.
Is there classes, references and components to campaigns opened to
instances?
Tks again.

your purpose. You'll have to run a ScoreDiscount pipeline component for
each product.
