hello,

I recently upgraded one of my LCS 2003 servers to LCS 2005 -- no problem at
all.

i attempted to upgrade my second LCS server in another site and everything
appeared to install correctly. However, when i open my LCS 2005 snap-in, the
site still shows up under LCS 2003. If i navigate to 'Live communication
servers and pools" it only display my first LCS 2005 server, not this one.
This one still appears as a 2003 server. also, when i right click on the
users in LCS2003 and attempt to move them, it does not give me the option to
move them to this second LCS server, only the first server.

Is there somthing i need to do?

thanks

Where can i check to see if this server has been activated?
when i try to uninstall, it tells me that i need to deactivate it first.
but, as i mentined below, the server does not show up in the LCS servers and
pools. it's still showing up as LCS 2003?

getting desperate !

You can use LcsCmd.exe to check the state of the server:

LcsCmd.exe /server /action:CheckLCSServerState

This will create an HTML log file.

In addition, instead of uninstalling try deactivating the server. You can
use LcsCmd.exe to do that:

LcsCmd.exe /server /action:Deactivate

After deactivation use setup.exe to activate it again.

ok. Making progress.

I ran the /unRegSpn command and reactivated and the server shows up now.

however, my service keeps crashing:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Live Communications Server
Event Category: (1000)
Event ID: 12299
Date: 1/6/2005
Time: 9:52:29 PM
User: N/A
Computer: LCS2005
Description:
The service is shutting down due to an internal error.

Error Code: 0xC3EA5008.
Resolution:
Check the previous event log entries and resolve them. Restart the server.
If the problem persists contact product support.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

ran the CheckServerState command and everything looks good. no errors.

I'm using the same service account as my other LCS service. Could this be a
problem?

You can use the same service account on both servers.

You might be hitting the problem because the AD objects created during
activation might not have replicated yet.
