ISA server post install |

Hi
I have taken over a site running SBS 2000. However it was
initially installed without ISA, relying on a Netgear
hardware firewall. Is it possible to carry out a
post-install of ISA? The server has a dual NIC build with
only one currently being used as the Netgear
router/firewall is attached (as are all other pc's and
server) directly to the switch ( I know this is the setup
scenario to be avoided in SBS). I appreciate that I will
have to tweak the LAT as the Firewall acts as a DHCP server
to the server external NIC, keeping the Public assigned IP
for it's external side. Is it possible to install ISA and
carry out this re-jigging including ICW.
Your help woulod be very much appreciated as I have never
done this before with SBS.

Yes, you can install ISA afterwards on an existing SBS2000 system. After
doing so, rerun ICW, install ISA SP2, and then install the firewall client
on your workstations.

and you might want to slide ISA Feature Pack 1 in between the ISA install
and that of ISAsp2.
You won't need to 'tweak' the LAT, you'll need to build it in a thoroughly
standard manner, if you have the two NICs set up correctly before installing
ISA.
As changing the SBS2000 internal IP range is a bother I'd suggest changing
the LAN IP of the router.

Hey David,
It is a very easy task to do. You oonly need to run Small
Business server 2000 console from add remove program and
run setup in maintenence mode and choose install against
ISA, while intsalling ISA it will ask you for LAT
configuration, uncheck add ranges.....option and select
local NIC, once the installation is over you can run icw
and select full time broadband option and run the wizard
with default settings or you can customize according to
your need.
