Recommendation for Modem for shared FAX service |
|
|
Hi,
A client requested the shared FAX service be implemented in SBS 2003.
Has anyone got experience of reliable modems for this use? I tested the
service on SBS 2000 using an internal modem a couple of years ago but and it
seemed unreliable (the service as a whole, not just the transmission, it
appeared).
I am aware that the general recommendation of people in the know is a proper
hardware based FAX card - e.g. Brooktrout Trufax 100 etc. but if other folks
have had sucess with a standard modems I'd be interested to know.
Thx in adavnce for any input.

I have 2 sbs 2003 customers using the external Multitech 5600 ZDX modem and
it works great. One has been using it for past 12 months and 1 for about 2
months. I originally had a different Multitech and had difficulty. I called
for tech support (which is very good by the way) and they told me this modem
was Windows 2003 compatible. A new modem costs $149 and a rebuilt about $90.
