I have done a DCPROMO on a new system so it becomes a domain controller.
This was done last week and the SYSVOL and NETLOGON shares are still not
shared. The only activities I can see on this new system is the
synchronization taking place in the
"do_not_remove_ntfrs_preinstall_directory" folder. Since the DCPROMO, this
folder has an increasing number of objects. I now have more then 3200
objects in it and it is still synchronizing. Does anyone have a clue why
there are so many objects and why the SYSVOL and NETLOGON shares are not
created^

-Check that DNS is working properly
-check the log files found in c:\winnt\debug folder regarding the promotion
of the DC.

Are you seeing any events in the File Replication Service event log?

Please post FRS related questions to
microsoft.public.windows.server.dfs_frs and prefix the subject line
with "FRS:" to make it easier to spot. Note that FRS is used to
replicate SYSVOL on domain controllers and DFS root and link targets.

For additional FRS resources, please visit
http://www.microsoft.com/frs.
