Hi

We have an old NT4 workstation machine, that is used to run a batch job, the
data on it is quite important, and gets updated constantly. I'd like to be
able to add the data directory to our DFS root, for fault tolerance. From
what I've read FRS/DFS is only available on Win2k server, but I was wonder
weather there was anyway to just set up a one way 'pull' of the data from
our win2k server that syncronised say once an hour or something?
I'm going to clone the hard disk and see if it's possible to upgrade to
win2k, I'm not sure if the programs will run correctly and I think I can
only install win2k pro, we don't have anymore server licenses. Is it
possible to run frs/dfs on 2k pro? From what I've read I'm failry sure you
can't.
We also have a snapserver which I'd like to add to DFS, and I correct in
thinking its not going to be possible to use the replication side of things,
but I can add it to the virtual directory?

Cheers

Ben

You need Windows 2000/2003 server to support FRS replication of DFS links.
You could simply setup a scheduled batch job to copy the data from the
workstation to the server once per hour.

You can use a SNAPSERVER as the physical data target for DFS links, but you
cannot replicate this data using FRS.
