here it goes...
2xwin2k3 ent replicating files OK, but some excel files get rename like it
says in the KB823230.
I've done the install override flag as KB816493 but the problem seems to
continue but not as often...
I've already asked the hotfix 823230 and waiting...
Does any one knows if it will be solved??? this problem apeared in w2k sp3
and then disapeared and now appeared again in w2k3!!!

PS: Only one dfs link target server is used to the clients the other is like
a backup and on the "backup" server the files don't get renamed (luckly for
me, I am getting a lot of work renaming the production server files back to
the original...)

I applied the hotfix in article 823230.
The fix works intermittently. Initially when I restarted the server, it
gave the Excel files their original file name. Also, it didn't rename the
files. However, I noticed now that the files are getting renamed again.
This appear to happen randomly during the day. For instance, this morning,
the files were being renamed. Then an hour later, the problem seemed to be
resolved. Only to find later that the files are getting renamed again. I'm
thinking that some other service is causing this problem.

Does anybody know how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance

Please be sure to patch all servers. All members of the replica set
must be patched. So if you have any other WS2K3 machines, be sure to
apply Q823230. All W2K replica member machines should have SP4 or
Q815473.

If you have patched all your member machines, there is one other thing
to check.

Check to see if you have the default file filter that filters *.tmp
files. The filters are case-sensitive and if you've disabled the
default filter or set it to *.TMP, then that might cause problems.
Refer to the following KB that discusses file filters. To be safe,
you could try setting *.tmp and *.TMP for your file filter to see if
that helps.
