We recently ran a Load Stress test using the Empirix eLoad/eTest applications
ramping up users. We used a 50 Virutal User count with a 7 second delay.
The metrics we are trying to achive are 12 pages per second (pps) wiht a 7
second response time with a 1-2% error rate.

We are seeing the CPU's on the Web Servers, App Servers and SQL Servers peak
out at 90-100% utilization with 20 Virutal User count with 7 second delay.
We have more bandwidth, memory is stable and not growing, but the CPU's are
bound. - What gives??? This seems unreasonable - are our
expectations/metrics unreasonable? It seams that the even without Images
loading during the tests we are unable to sustain this kind of load that our
current site can and its in-line ASP with StoredProcs running Site Server
Comm Ed 3.0 - crazy. Where can we look?

The Specs

We have just completed development of a MSIB 2.5 Feature Pack 1 project on
converting our exisitng www.fonts.com web site from Site Server Commerce Ed
3.0 with a complete rewrite.

While running tests our architecture included
2 Web Servers
- Dell PE 1750 Dual Pentium 4 2.4Ghz CPUs, 4Gb RAM, RAID 1 73Gb SCSI HDD, 2
Intel 1000MT cards running at 1000base-T Full-Duplex
2 SQL Servers Clustered
- Dell PE 6650 Quad Pentium 4 3.0Ghz CPUs, 8Gb RAM, PV220 SCSI based SAN
with seperate drives for T-logs, Dbs, TempDb, and OSes 4 Intel 1000MT Nics
2 SQL Servers Clustered for Analysis Servers
- Dell PE 6450 Quad Pentium 3 700mHz CPUs, 8Gb RAM, PV 220 SCSI based SAN
with seperate drives for T-logs, Dbs, TempDb, and OSes, 4 Intel 1000XT Nics
running at 1000base-T Full-Duplex
1 Application Server for MondoSoft MondoSearch - Full-Text Search engine
- Dell PE 6450 Quad Pentium 3 700mHz CPUs, 8Gb RAM, RAID 1 73Gb SCSI HDD, 1
Intel 1000XT Nic running at 1000base-T Full-Duplex
1 Active Directory Domain Controller for Security, internal DNS, internal
DHCP, WINS
- Dell PE 1750 Single Pentium 4 2.4Ghz CPUs, 4Gb RAM, RAID 1 36Gb SCSI HDD,
2 Intel 1000MT cards running at 1000base-T Full-Duplex
The network consists of a clustered Firewalls, 1000Mb Switched network with
F5 BigIP LTM 3400 Clustered load balancers fronting the 2 web servers.

Any assistance or guidance is apprecaited as we are currently 1 week away
from launch with no answers.....
