disjoint namespace configuration |

Hi
I have just created my AD domain called windows.mycompany.com under our root domain (mydomain.com). This subdomain is created in our DNS (BIND) and is updated with the content of the netlogon.dns from the newly created DC. All our windows machines and servers (including the DC, we called it DC1) are all registered under mydomain.com.
My problem right now is I am not able to join any workstations to this new AD. It did prompt for the username and password, however, it said Windows cannot find the network path after entering the password and username information. I have use nslookup (from both client and server sides) to query our DNS server and all the srv records are available from the windows.mydomain.com subdomain.
Further investigation, I have found that the application event log (on the DC) had 1030 and 1058 event messages. These messages are related to not being able to find the GPO due to name resolution problem. I ran netdiag /test:dns and the following error showed up.
The record on your DC is:
DNS NAME = _ldap._tcp.windows.mycompany.com.
DNS DATA =
SRV 0 100 389 DC1.mycompany.com.
The record on DNS server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is:
DNS NAME = _ldap._tcp.windows.mycompany.com
DNS DATA =
SRV 0 100 389 DC1.windows.mycompany.com
+------------------------------------------------------+
The Record is different on DNS server 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'.
I thought Windows 2003 will automatically recognize the different but it obvouisly not.
Joe, if you are reading this message, would you pls. give me some feedback?
Thanks

Have you tried rebooting your server?.......With 2003 a reboot of the server is supposed to clear this problem.

I did, many times. It does not help.
This really has something to do with mismatched information on the DC and the DNS server.
