Logging on issue |
|
|
Hi
This is baffling me......If one of our servers goes down (which
unfortunately is happening at the moment) A few people are unable to log onto
the network. We have AD setup with 4 DC's, all of which replicate with no
problems. I was under the impression that by having multiple DC's there would
never be this logon issue, as client PC's would be able to log onto another
server. Even after a reboot the client PC's still will not logon until the
server is up and running again!! Can anyone help??
Thanks

Simon, What kind of clients are we talking ? Because some old clients
(Windows 9.x, NT 4) by default needs contact DC holds PDC Emulator during
logon process.

We are talking Windows XP/2000. I can see the server i'm logging onto by
typing set at the command line, is there any way to change this?

Did you configurate sites (AD Sites and Services) and subnets IPs ? Clients
will get these informations to process and choose a logon server (querying
DNS records too)

I don't recall configuring anything in there, the only thing i use that
console for is to force replication from time to time.
