Network Time Recommendations |

1 Windows 2003 DC with all roles. 1 Windows 2000 DC (Will replace soon with
2003) 3 Member servers and 40 XP Clients. DC with all the roles should get
its time with an external time server. All XP Clients should get its time
from 2003 server with the PDC emulator role.
One of my XP Clients has the wrong time. I can not get it to sync. Manually
had to change time by double clicking systray. Any recommendations or a good
overview of an ideal situition will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Try the follow command on your clients
net time /set /yes , include the command within a logon script.

That did not work on one user Client required privlidge not available error.
What is the best way to apply the rights to run this command for all users
in my domain. Thanks in Advance.

You can grant this right through GPO. But I don't recommend this.
You should configure the PDCe to sync with an external time source (net time
/setsntp:time-server.com) and then let Windows Time (w32time) do the rest of
the syncing. It works in a hierarchical way (clients sync with their DCs,
DCs sync with PDCe's, and PDCe's sync with the root). For more info. search
Microsoft for "Windows Time".
If this isn't working for a particular machine, check the secure channel
between the workstation and DC using nltest /sc_verify:domain-name.com
