Help with Sites and Services Configuration |
|
|
Hi Guys,
I am deploying a pure Windows 2003 Active Directory Setup across 52 sites.
Each site will be configured as an additional DC with a GC at each site. My
problems is that we have multiple VLAN's per site. 1 for Servers and 3 for
Data. When matching the Sites to the Subnet, what will be the best approach
to mapping a site that has multiple subnets. Can I assign more than 1 Subnet
per Site ?
For ex....Site 1 has
10.1.1.0/24 for servers,
10.1.2.0/23 for Data 1, and
10.1.4.0/23 for Data 2
Do I create a Site called "SITE1" and Assign all 3 Subnets to that site ?
Thanks for your help |

Yes, assign as many subnets as necessary to sites. In Windows 2000 you had a
practical limit of about 5000 subnets but that isn't the case with Windows
Server 2003, though if you want to add 5000 or greater subnets to a site I would
recommend doing it in batches of say 1000 or 2000 per replication pass.
